El chip ESS es más antiguo que el mediatek. Ya empieza a haber un batallón de lectores con el mediatek, hay gran inquietud por renovar el firmware y dotar a los equipos con nuevas prestaciones. Los modelos más comentados son el woxter, elta y ascomtec. Yo tengo el último, el aparato está muy chulo y hace muchas cosas. Pero tengo problemas de parones de imagen y macrobloques "fantasmas" al reproducir divx, se producen de forma aleatoria. Para mi que es una mala gestión de la memoria del buffer. Todo el mundo no tiene el problema, los hay supercontentos. En fin, yo ya no lo puedo devolver, pero al menos me quedan l.os dos años de garantía. No me desespero, seguro que en futuras versiones del firm se arregla el tema.

Aunque el sogo no aparece, que raro...

Hola a todos, soy usuario desde hace una semana de un lector sogo ss-9835. He leído en el foro que este lector es capaz de leer DVD-RW. Sin embargo, yo no puedo hacer que lea ni un DVD+RW, ni un DVD-RW, aunque sí un DVD-R con la misma información. Estoy usando DVD-RW y DVD+RW de la marca Auchan (Alcampo) y DVD-R Bulk. Alguien me puede decir si hay algún truco para generar DVD-RW compatibles con este lector. Gracias a todos
 

Hola Josejuan, a mi,  si has leido mis posts anteriores,  si los lee tanto DVD+/-RW( marca philips y e imation), pero al cabo de unos 20 ó 40 minutos me empieza a hacer  pausas hasta que se fastidia y se queda colgadísimo, ¿es eso lo que te ocurre a ti?, por lo contrario no me ocurre con los DVD-R los  lee perfectamente.
   Por favor me interesaría bastante que me contestaras a esta pregunta, ¿cuando te lee un DVD-R se te ve la película azul? Es que a mi siempre.

No tengo ningún problema con los DVD-R. La pantalla se ve normal. Con los DVD-RW o +RW no consigo ni que empiece la película.

Tras probar durante una semana este cacharro, lo devolví ayer,  no conseguí ver una película que no se desfasara la imagen, el sonido o sino los continuos parones, también me hizo devolverlo el que SOGO no tuviera ninguna página dode en un futuro me pudiera descargar el firmware.
    Leí en los foros que el ELTA era un buen cacharro y me lo compré,  y tras probarlo,  no hay comparación,  es una maquina, lo lee todo y sin ningún problema, además esta marca es alemana y esta gente son muy serios con el tema de las actualizaciones. Además los de la distribuidora en España son muy majos tuvieron un detalle conmigo, al estar impedido de las manos, me acercó uno de los empleados el Divx a casa con la correspondiente factura de compra. Os aconsejo este Divx y si queréis comprarlo llamar al 961203862 corresponde a ELTA HISPANIA  situado en Beniparrell (Valencia) os lo pueden mandar por transporte urgente a cualquier parte de España para más información ya poneos en contacto con ellos.

I have not seen any blue screen with any dvd playback on the 9835.

Also using Imation DVD-R and DVD-RW, I have not had the problem of slowdown after 20-40 minutes. Can you post some more information such as:
- the type of movie file you are playing (divx, xvid, mpg, etc?)
- the version of the file (3.11, 5.05 etc?)
- the size of the file?

Keep in mind that the 9835 is an ESS chip, so does not support QPEL and GMC. This is also not supported in any brand with ESS chips. The mediatek will support this. Sogo will launch a mediatek unit very soon.

Also I hear that SOGO will launch a website which will provide updates. Until now, I dont know what bugs anybody is seeing. If you have specific bugs to report please contact me. I can work to help all SOGO users to improve their players.

I am also interested in a special SOGO forum, I can moderate. Unfortunately I cannot speak Spanish, but I can still try and help.

Hi Maxxed and everyone in the forum.

I have some problems with this player. I'll try to relate and summarise it:

1st. When I try to play a DVD video (created from a DV digital camera) in my SOGO ss 9835 I have no problems if DVD is burned on a DVD-R video (Bulkpak) But, the same DVD-video (created with NeoDVD) does not play or suddenly stops if burned on a DVD+RW Memorex.
2nd. My DVD player does not recognize Divx or Xvid movies or mpg movies burned on a DVD-R  as data.

All other things are OK.

Tengo algunos problemas con este lector de DVD:
1. Los DVD creados a partir de una DV cámara digital y grabados en un DVD-R funcionan perfectamente, pero los grabados en DVD+RW no.
2. No puedo leer DIVX o XVID o mpg grabados en DVD-R como datos

Hi, I agree with Maikel that it is better using this foro to answer questions. However, I would acknowledge Maxxed for his help to solve our problems. Some of these questions/problems are:
1st.   It is possible to read DVD-RW or DVD+RW with this DVD player ? If possible,  please indicate us what kind of DVD+-RW are better or compatible and/or if we need some new firmware.
2nd. It is possible reading a DVD-R or DVD-RW with Divx or Xvid files?

1. Yes I have read the post. The reason why I had asked him to email me was because of two reasons.

a. I would like to know his 'serial number' on the item. This will help me to find out if he has an older version of the 9835. I dont want him to post his serial number on the forum.

b. I may be able to send him some 'testing' firmware. But if I post that on the forum, we cannot control if it works or not! I dont want to break anybodies player!

Anyway, regarding Jose Juans questions pls note:
1. Yes, I have personally used DVD-RW and DVD+RW on this player. I have used Imation brand discs with no problems. I am using a Sony DRU-510A DVD Burner, and Nero to burn the discs. I am using simple ISO mode. I dont think this requires any new firmware.

2. Yes, the discs above are burned as ISO with many divx and xvid files. The only files that do not work are files encoded using QPEL or GMC.

Can you give some more details as to what happens when you insert the DVD+RW or -RW disc? Does it stop at the loading screen? Does it crash the unit?

I am here to try and help everyone on this model. Do you think we can establish a sogo subforum to make it easier to track all Sogo problems?

Sobre la cuestión de los DVD+-RW, el pronblema es que tras 5-10 minutos funcionando, se para y expulsa el DVD. Primero probé con la marca Auchan y el reproductor no los reconocía, luego con Memorex +RW y parecía ir todo bien hasta que a los 5-10 minutos se paraba de repente.
Sobre los Divx en DVD-R lo probaré esta semana, Sólo lo había probado con DVD+RW Memorex

I have found some DVD+RW and DVD-RW that dont work well with the SS-9835. Actually, this problem is only found on vey cheap and poor quality 'DVD Silver' discs. When burned at 4x speed, they fail on the SS-9835.

This can be fixed when burning at 2x or 2.4x speed. The SS-9835 has no problems at all playing these discs, and I think even the cheapest discs can be used when burned at the slower speed.

SS-9835 new firmware I hear will be out in the next week.....
